Doug Smith

Doug is an advisor, writer, historian, teacher, lawyer and inventor whose work spans more than three decades in fifty industries in the private, non-profit, and government sectors.

He created the principles and design for challenge-centered, performance-and-accountability organizational transformation programs, including The Sulzberger Program (co-delivered with Columbia Journalism School) and Achieving Excellence (co-delivered with NeighborWorks America and Harvard’s Kennedy School).

He is the author of The Wisdom of Teams, The Discipline of Teams, Make Success Measurable, and Taking Charge of Change; and other books of history (Sources of The African Past), journalism (Fumbling the Future), and social and moral philosophy (On Value and Values).
